The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) today announced its newest members: NETGEAR, Inc. (NASDAQ:NTGR), the leading provider of networking products that power businesses both large and small, and Megapixel VR®, a developer of customized, state-of-the-art LED displays and video processing technologies for entertainment, film, TV, and architectural applications. NETGEAR and Megapixel VR formally joined AIMS during ISE 2023 in Barcelona.

“We couldn’t be more excited to add NETGEAR and Megapixel VR as our latest members,” said Andrew Starks, an AIMS board of directors member and director of product management for Macnica. “Together, both companies bring a wealth of expertise in utilizing IP across a wide range of applications, from mobile solutions to large-scale displays for iconic venues and events. They will be instrumental in helping us drive the adoption of IP in new markets.”

Since 1996, NETGEAR has been delivering innovative and advanced connected solutions for a wide range of applications. From switches designed for AV over IP to network design services, NETGEAR is changing the way the industry thinks of networking. NETGEAR is here to help with award-winning, groundbreaking features built specifically for the new world of video and audio over Ethernet.

“With AIMS’ IPMX proposed set of open standards and specifications set to become the core of new IP infrastructure deployments throughout the Pro AV industry, it couldn’t be a better time for NETGEAR to join the alliance,” said Laurent Masia, director of product management for Managed Switches at NETGEAR. “We’re no stranger to video-over-IP in these environments and can’t wait to see how we can address the interoperability challenges in the Pro AV ecosystem together.”

At the forefront of digital displays and technology with over 200 patents — and award wins from Live Design, the Emmys, and the Oscars — Megapixel VR’s world-class team of innovators, engineers, and designers delivers the most unique and breakthrough LED solutions on the market. The company is headquartered in Valencia, California.

“We are excited to be at the forefront of bringing IPMX to the LED display industry,” said Scott Blair, vice president product/project management at Megapixel VR. “With IPMX’s lightweight requirements, it greatly simplifies implementation and provides a solid basis for interoperability. We are excited to team up with AIMS in bringing the technology to new markets and empowering innovation for our clients’ projects.”

More information about AIMS and its work is available at www.aimsalliance.org.

The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) today announced that it will be highlighting the global Pro AV market’s increasing adoption of Internet Protocol Media Experience (IPMX) — a set of open standards-based protocols designed to ensure interoperability for AV-over-IP systems — at ISE 2023, Jan. 31 to Feb. 3 in Barcelona, Spain. Visitors to AIMS’ Booth 5J550 will see IPMX-based hardware and software working together seamlessly in live demonstrations hosted by AIMS members and IPMX collaborators. Highlights will include HDCP running on IPMX, IPMX bridging to HDBaseT, and the capabilities and benefits of AMWA NMOS IS-04 and IS-05.

“2022 was a pivotal year for IPMX, thanks in large part to demos at InfoComm and other events that affirmed IPMX as the solution for overcoming the interoperability challenges in Pro AV environments,” said Samuel Recine, chair, Pro AV Working Group at AIMS. “As a result, we’ve begun to see market adoption of IPMX, which we expect to dramatically increase in 2023, with it serving as the foundation for bigger rollouts and high-profile projects. It all starts at ISE, where we’ll be kicking off the new year with our latest demos that highlight IPMX’s interoperability and high level of industry support. It’s going to be an amazing show, and we can’t wait to see you there.”

IPMX implements a standards-based approach based on SMPTE ST 2110, with features and capabilities that target the specific needs of the Pro AV industry. In addition to simplifying the implementation of SMPTE ST 2110 and ensuring interoperability for AV-over-IP systems, IPMX incorporates core features tailored to Pro AV installations. These features include fully interoperable and compliant HDCP, and highly scalable discovery and registration APIs, with the subframe latency and perfect quality that the Pro AV industry demands.

The Audio Engineering Society (AES), Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS), Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), European Broadcasting Union (EBU), Society of Motion Picture and Technology Engineers® (SMPTE®), and the Video Services Forum (VSF) today announced the IP Showcase will be at IBC2022, live at RAI Amsterdam, Sept. 9-12, in Rooms G102/G103.

“We’re very excited that the IP Showcase will be part of the show this year,” said Andrew Starks, marketing workgroup chair at AIMS. “So much has happened since we last met in person in Amsterdam. While we’ve done a lot in the virtual realm to keep up the momentum of IP adoption, the IP Showcase at IBC2022 will be a fantastic opportunity for us to report the progress our organizations have made with IP standards, share user stories, and provide resources people can use as they make plans to transition to open-standards IP technology.”

The IP Showcase is committed to educating attendees at major industry events on the business and creative potential of IP media solutions. At IBC2022, the IP Showcase will be focused on the progress in SMPTE ST 2110, AES 67, and IPMX that supports scalable, flexible, affordable, and accessible IP media systems and continues to address market requirements as media operations move toward all-IP connectivity and content delivery to multiscreen platforms. IP Showcase organizers are hosting both technical presentations and demonstrations that provide useful guidance and examples to media organizations making this critical shift.

IBC2022 attendees can learn more about work happening within SMPTE, AES, EBU, VSF, and AMWA; how the evolving SMPTE ST 2110 standards and the AMWA NMOS technology stack are improving media workflows; and how the Internet Protocol Media Experience (IPMX) proposed set of open standards and specifications is being implemented, and its future possibilities. Along with technical paper presentations on these and other topics, the IP Showcase will feature basic tutorials tailored to newcomers in the field of IP video production, as well as case studies from real-world installations.

The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) will host its first live interoperability demonstration of Internet Protocol Media Experience (IPMX) — a set of standards-based protocols designed to ensure interoperability for AV over IP — at InfoComm 2022, June 8-10 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The first-of-a-kind demo will take place at AIMS Booth W1067 and will feature networking equipment and hardware and software nodes running both IPMX and SMPTE ST 2110, the standards suite on which IPMX is based. The demo will also highlight gateways between IPMX and other protocols, developer kits, and elements of IPMX-enabled AV-over-IP workflows.

“With this noteworthy IPMX interoperability demo at InfoComm 2022, we’re passing a critical milestone on the AIMS roadmap for open-standards-based media over IP,” said Sam Recine, chair of the Pro AV Working Group at AIMS. “We’re demonstrating the technical viability of IPMX in terms of multivendor interoperability, and that alone is exciting! But what’s also significant about this demo is the high level of industry support it signals, with leading manufacturers building IPMX support into their products — and more companies continually joining those ranks — as we move toward a more flexible, dynamic IP-based future for Pro AV.”

IPMX implements a standards-based approach based on SMPTE ST 2110, with features and capabilities that target the specific needs of the Pro AV industry. In addition to simplifying implementation of SMPTE ST 2110 and ensuring interoperability for AV-over-IP systems, IPMX incorporates other features tailored to Pro AV installations. These features include AMWA NMOS IS-04 and IS-05 for discovery, registration, and connection management, as well as specifications for copy protection and security.

Demo partners include Arista Networks, Cisco Systems, intoPix SA, Macnica, Matrox, Ross Video Limited, and many others.
