Held in a minitheater in Booth 4181, the daily series of live, 15-minute presentations will be delivered by AIMS members and cover a variety of topics related to Internet Protocol Media Experience (IPMX) — a set of open standard-based protocols designed to ensure interoperability for AV-over-IP systems in the media, entertainment, and Pro AV industries.

“AIMS is committed to utilizing prominent industry events as a platform for educating attendees about the immense potential of IP media solutions,” said Samuel Recine, chair of the Pro AV Working Group at AIMS. “With the stage set for IPMX to become the core of new IP infrastructure deployments throughout the Pro AV industry, it’s more important than ever for integrators, manufacturers, and other stakeholders to become familiar with the standards, and our booth at InfoComm 2023 offers them the perfect opportunity to do so.”

At InfoComm 2023, AIMS will be hosting eight different presentations — covering everything from an introduction to IPMX to gateways between IPMX and other media protocols — with each 15-minute session being offered multiple times throughout the event. The complete presentation list is below:

Alliance to Host Innovative IPMX AV-Over-IP Interoperability Demo, Highlighting VSF’s Suite of Technical Recommendations

BOTHELL, Wash. — May 25, 2023 — The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) today announced that the organization will host a live interoperability demonstration of Internet Protocol Media Experience (IPMX) — a set of open standard-based protocols designed to ensure interoperability for AV-over-IP systems in the media, entertainment, and Pro AV industries — at InfoComm 2023, June 14-16 in Orlando, Florida. In booth 4181, AIMS will also be highlighting and discussing the recently released, initial drafts of the Video Services Forum’s (VSF) TR-10 suite of Technical Recommendations for IPMX.

IPMX implements a standards-based approach based on SMPTE ST 2110 with features and capabilities that target the specific needs of the Pro AV industry. In addition to simplifying implementation of SMPTE ST 2110 and ensuring interoperability for AV-over-IP systems, IPMX incorporates other features tailored to Pro AV installations. These features include AMWA NMOS IS-04 and IS-05 for discovery, registration, and connection management, as well as specifications for copy protection and security.

In addition to interoperability demonstrations hosted in the AIMS booth, AIMS will be offering presentations on AV-over-IP and IPMX in a mini-theatre and will be providing information on live equipment demonstrations taking place in other booths across the InfoComm show floor.

“IPMX has made great strides over the last year in terms of multivendor interoperability. Not only will AIMS be highlighting its capabilities at InfoComm 2023, but many of our members will be providing their own demonstrations of a wide range of IPMX-ready products while also giving presentations on a variety of IPMX-related topics,” said Samuel Recine, chair of the Pro AV Working Group at AIMS. “Another important milestone for IPMX in the last year was the release of VSF’s TR-10 drafts. Many manufacturers have already made implementations based on these documents, and we’re excited to discuss them with visitors to our booth.”

BOTHELL, Wash. — May 15, 2023 — The Audio Engineering Society (AES), Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS), Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), European Broadcasting Union (EBU), SMPTE®, and the Video Services Forum (VSF) today announced that over 40 videos of presentations given in the IP Showcase Theater at the 2023 NAB Show in Las Vegas are now available for viewing on the IP Showcase website. Given by top experts, the 30-minute presentations cover a wide range of IP-related topics — from the latest developments in SMPTE ST 2110 to NMOS, ground-to-cloud architectures, IPMX, QC monitoring and maintenance, cloud-based production, and much more.

The IP Showcase is committed to educating attendees at major industry events on the potential of IP media solutions, and the IP Showcase Theater is at the heart of that commitment. Unlike other NAB presentations that were company-sponsored or thought leadership opportunities, presentations in the IP Showcase Theater were delivered by hands-on engineers who instruct attendees on exactly how to move to an IP infrastructure.

“The IP Showcase at the 2023 NAB Show was a resounding success, featuring more presentations in the Theater than ever before. For those who weren’t able to attend — or need a refresher on a certain topic — the online library of presentation videos offers a valuable educational resource,” said Andrew Starks, an AIMS board of directors member and director of product management for Macnica. “We’d like to thank our members, partners, and of course the presenters themselves for making the event one to remember.”

The IP Showcase presentation videos are available for viewing here. Further information about the IP Showcase is available at www.ipshowcase.org.

BOTHELL, Wash. — May 3, 2023 — The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) today announced its newest members: Colorlight, a pioneer in video and image processing; and Media Links, a pioneer in media-over-IP transport technology. Both companies formally joined AIMS during the 2023 NAB Show in Las Vegas.

“We couldn’t be more excited to name Colorlight and Media Links as the newest AIMS members,” said Andrew Starks, an AIMS board of directors member and director of product management for Macnica. “With their extensive IP media transport experience in both broadcasting and Pro AV applications, all three companies will help us drive the adoption of IP and our IPMX proposed set of open standards and specifications in new markets.”

A professional video solutions provider with global reach, Colorlight offers video processors, LED control systems, and media servers that have been widely adopted for live events, film and TV, exhibitions, meeting rooms, digital signage, and more. The company is committed to meeting emerging requirements of the UHD video industry through constant technological innovation and convergence.

“Our solutions are widely deployed in a variety of Pro AV environments, where video-over-IP is quickly becoming the prevailing infrastructure,” said Jimmy He, VP of Colorlight. “With IPMX set to become the core of that infrastructure, there couldn’t be a better time for Colorlight to join the alliance and help bring interoperability to a range of applications.”

Established in 1993 in Kawasaki, Japan, the Media Links’ IP Ecosystem delivers a range of media transport capabilities for news, entertainment and sports to audiences across the globe. Its IP solution portfolio includes media gateways, modular transport platforms, aggregation/core switches and management control software supporting the full gamut of video, audio and data formats and bandwidths.

“Media Links has been at the forefront of the rapid transition to IP-based media processing,” said Gill Payne, Marketing Manager of Media Links. “We have many years of IP experience and a really good appreciation of interoperability challenges, and look forward toward working together with AIMS and its members to address them.”

The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) today announced that it will be highlighting the global Pro AV market’s increasing adoption of Internet Protocol Media Experience (IPMX) — a set of open standards-based protocols designed to ensure interoperability for AV-over-IP systems — at ISE 2023, Jan. 31 to Feb. 3 in Barcelona, Spain. Visitors to AIMS’ Booth 5J550 will see IPMX-based hardware and software working together seamlessly in live demonstrations hosted by AIMS members and IPMX collaborators. Highlights will include HDCP running on IPMX, IPMX bridging to HDBaseT, and the capabilities and benefits of AMWA NMOS IS-04 and IS-05.

“2022 was a pivotal year for IPMX, thanks in large part to demos at InfoComm and other events that affirmed IPMX as the solution for overcoming the interoperability challenges in Pro AV environments,” said Samuel Recine, chair, Pro AV Working Group at AIMS. “As a result, we’ve begun to see market adoption of IPMX, which we expect to dramatically increase in 2023, with it serving as the foundation for bigger rollouts and high-profile projects. It all starts at ISE, where we’ll be kicking off the new year with our latest demos that highlight IPMX’s interoperability and high level of industry support. It’s going to be an amazing show, and we can’t wait to see you there.”

IPMX implements a standards-based approach based on SMPTE ST 2110, with features and capabilities that target the specific needs of the Pro AV industry. In addition to simplifying the implementation of SMPTE ST 2110 and ensuring interoperability for AV-over-IP systems, IPMX incorporates core features tailored to Pro AV installations. These features include fully interoperable and compliant HDCP, and highly scalable discovery and registration APIs, with the subframe latency and perfect quality that the Pro AV industry demands.

“IP Showcase at IBC2022 will give attendees a valuable opportunity to engage with top experts, learn from designers and implementers of cutting-edge facilities, and participate in discussions about the latest topics around IP-based media operations and workflows,” said IP Showcase chairperson Andrew Starks.
